TIRTA GANGGA
Linguistically, the word tirta means holy water, while ganga itself is the name of a river in India whose water is holy. So Tirta Gangga means holy water from the Ganges River. This is a form of respect given to Hindu religious communities throughout the world in general.

The process of building this water palace began in 1946 on the orders of the King of Karangasem at that time. Its main purpose is as a recreation and stopover place for the royal family and royal guests who come to Bali. Therefore, various arrangements are made as attractive and beautiful as possible to look at.

This place is truly a cultural heritage of ancient Bali with its characteristic form of a water palace, the result of a combination of Chinese and Balinese style architecture. Until finally, in 1963, a natural disaster occurred in the form of the eruption of Mount Agung which damaged almost the entire Tirta Gangga area.

Various damages meant that it had to be completely renovated to restore its original beauty. Furthermore, the local government took the initiative to rebuild this water park area and make it a tourist area for the public. This is supported by the beautiful views around it.

TAMAN UJUNG
Taman Ujung Bali is another name for Taman Sukasada Karangasem Bali. However, tourists more often call it Taman Ujung Water Palace. The uniqueness of Taman Ujung Bali is its beautiful architectural combination of European and Balinese styles. If you visit Taman Ujung
Taman Ujung Karangasem was built in 1909 by I Gusti Bagus Jelantik or Gusti Bagus Djilantik who at the time served as king of Karangasem. He also has the title Anak Agung Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Taman Ujung Bali was originally a Dirah pond (a dumping pond) which was built in 1901. However, the king decided to develop the Dirah pond into a park.

Reported on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, the architects for the construction of Taman Ujung Bali were Dutch and Chinese named van Den Hentz and Loto Ang. This construction also involved undagi (Balinese architects). In 1921, Taman Ujung Bali was completed and inaugurated in 1937. Evidence of its inauguration can be seen in the marble inscription written in Latin and Balinese script, as well as two languages, namely Malay and Balinese.

There was serious damage in Taman Ujung Bali caused by the eruption of Mount Agung. After being left for a long time, Puri Karangasem and the Karangasem Regency Government of Bali carried out renovations and restoration in 2000.

At the start of development, the area of this park reached 400 hectares, but now it has reduced to just 10 hectares. Most of the land in Taman Ujung was distributed to the community during the land reform period. Now, this park belongs to the Puri Karangasem family. However, tourists can also visit it.
